Role Overview
The Operations Manager holds accountability for budget control, personnel development, and operational goals within a specific functional domain of the Fulfillment Center, such as Inbound, Outbound, or Change Operations. This leadership position involves guiding a group of Area Managers, fostering team coaching and mentoring to meet performance benchmarks, cultivating positive employee relationships, and strengthening leadership capabilities within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees and team members.
- Supervise and lead Area Managers, Team Leaders, with assistance from Personal Assistants and Operations Associates.
- Oversee the safety, quality, productivity, and overall performance of the department's operations.
- Engage in strategic planning, performance assessment, problem resolution, and workforce management.
- Analyze daily forecasts and define productivity targets to meet facility-wide objectives.
- Ensure achievement of Business Metrics (BM) and OP2 throughput goals.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow Operations Managers and participate in cross-functional projects incorporating best practices.
- Identify opportunities and spearhead process improvement initiatives.
- Understand and communicate system changes affecting order processing to the team.
- Lead Annual Review and Training (ART) events focusing on capacity planning and resource preparation, including manpower, materials, and machinery.
- Conduct periodic resource planning and alleviate capacity constraints coordinating with resource planning and finance teams.
- Implement best practices in personnel management and ensure compliance with company standards, connection protocols, and scorecards.
- Drive people development and talent pipeline creation.
- Utilize flexibility levers and remain current with Amazon-specific technical tools and ERP systems related to the role.
- Manage stakeholder relations and project initiatives across functions and locations to adopt best practices.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of employee and performance management experience.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including shifts on weekends, nights, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of direct experience with Amazon as a blue badge or full-time employee.
- Experience of 1 or more years in performance measurement, process enhancement, or lean methodology applications.
