Role overview
The Non-Emergency Transporter supports patient transportation services by safely moving clients who need non-emergency travel assistance. The role calls for careful communication with patients across all age groups, consistent daily execution, and attention to safety, vehicle condition, and proper documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide non-emergency transportation while interacting appropriately with clients of different ages.
- Handle daily duties reliably and complete them within expected timeframes.
- Keep clients, team members, and yourself safe throughout transport operations.
- Ensure billing details and required paperwork are completed correctly when transport is arranged.
- Operate transport vehicles and equipment responsibly and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-the-job competencies.
Experience and education
High school diploma or GED is preferred. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
Candidates should have no more than 2 motor vehicle violations in the past 5 years and must be insurable under the hospital’s insurance policy. A DOT physical is required to operate a commercial van.
Additional requirements
The role requires strong communication, dependability, patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in helping people. Candidates should be self-driven and comfortable working independently. Prior experience in healthcare is preferred. The job also requires the ability to lift patients on stretchers, with lifting demands ranging from light to very heavy.
