Role Overview
The Network Engineer will keep the company’s voice, data, video, and wireless environments running reliably, securely, and at high performance. This position covers network design and support, server and telecom administration, issue resolution, and close coordination with internal IT teams to deliver dependable technology services.
What You’ll Do
- Build, deploy, support, and refine core network environments such as LAN, WAN, wireless, internet and intranet connectivity, VoIP, and security controls.
- Set up, observe, diagnose, and maintain networking equipment, software, firewalls, backup tools, and communications platforms to keep systems stable and protected.
- Manage servers, operating systems, databases, and data movement workflows while preserving uptime and system reliability.
- Install and support desktop systems, software, accessories, and the broader end-user computing setup.
- Handle help desk tickets, identify root causes, fix hardware/software/network problems, and deliver responsive user support.
- Produce and update network diagrams, system settings, policies, procedures, disaster recovery documentation, and other technical records.
- Assess and test emerging technologies and infrastructure enhancements, including rollout coordination and user acceptance testing.
- Work with business users and IT colleagues to ensure solutions align with operational needs and service expectations.
- Take part in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, and on-call coverage when needed.
Qualifications
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a similar discipline, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience; a suitable mix of education and experience may also be accepted.
- Proven background in planning, deploying, maintaining, and supporting network infrastructure and related hardware/software environments.
- Solid understanding of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Hands-on exposure to Cisco technologies, including Cisco IOS and Cisco VoIP.
- Practical familiarity with VPNs, firewalls, Microsoft Active Directory, VMware, Windows, and asset management tools.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, research skills, and sound judgment for recommending technology improvements.
- Ability to follow safety and security procedures while protecting the confidentiality and integrity of information systems.
- Capability to support users remotely and travel occasionally for off-site installations, maintenance, and support.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including extended computer work, long periods of sitting, and lifting or moving moderately heavy equipment such as computers and peripherals.
Additional Information
This is a full-time remote role based in New York, United States. The position may require occasional off-site travel, after-hours maintenance, upgrades, on-call support, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks associated with equipment movement and prolonged computer use.
