Role Overview
The Munitions Technician is responsible for receiving, storing, inspecting, testing, moving, and maintaining USAF munitions, munitions material handling equipment, and related support assets at the site. The role also involves operating the Theater Integrated Combat Munition System (TICMS), and may include supervising an Other Country National munitions workforce. All work must align with the Performance Work Statement and the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow and enforce USAF and host-nation explosives safety, AFOSH, and security rules during both explosive and non-explosive activities at assigned locations and temporary duty sites.
- Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies, taking control measures as needed.
- Carry out munitions tasks using approved quality procedures, while spotting issues and suggesting practical fixes.
- Restore, repair, and replace damaged, defective, or missing munitions and container components.
- Complete munitions storage activities in line with strict explosives-handling standards.
- Perform warehouse stock checks and resolve any inventory mismatches.
- Coordinate with operations staff to address serviceability and accountability concerns found during warehouse activities.
- Prepare munitions for shipment by air, sea, and land.
- Load and unload trucks carrying inbound and outbound munitions.
- Support munitions inspections under 11A-1-10 and related technical orders.
- Support inspections of munitions brass, residue, and containers under 11A-1-60.
- Use TICMS in line with site procedures.
- Inspect, run, and maintain light vehicles and material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual hoists.
- Check and operate strapping tools, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors, and power tools.
- Perform minor upkeep on facilities and fixed equipment, and clean vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
- Act as crew chief when required and give clear instructions to assigned team members.
- Prepare and deliver general safety and explosives safety briefings.
- When qualified, load/unload munitions shipments and move them to and from flightline holding areas, as well as support daily departmental transport needs.
- Work the hours needed, including standby duty, to meet peacetime and combat-contingency mission demands.
- Carry out TICMS receiving tasks in the designated receiver role.
- Serve in entry-controller duties when assigned.
- Handle other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
The position is based in office, maintenance shop, or warehouse settings, and may also require extended outdoor work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of USAF supply and technical order systems, or an equivalent U.S. service system.
- Strong computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Valid driver’s license from the home country and the ability to obtain a host-nation license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed formal USAF Munitions Systems training, or an equivalent U.S. service qualification.
- Ability to obtain and keep a U.S. Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for this clearance.
- Willingness to wear the required personal protective equipment for each task.
- Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting, pushing, and pulling at least 50 lbs.
- Availability to travel within the country and internationally.
- Normal color vision and depth perception.
Preferred Background
- At least four years of experience working with USAF military munitions.
- Associate’s degree in Munitions Management preferred.
Compensation
This role is paid on an hourly basis and includes housing and transportation support. The stated pay is an estimate and may change depending on responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, relevant agreements, and applicable laws.
