Role overview
The Munitions Inspector is responsible for receiving, storing, examining, testing, moving, and maintaining USAF munitions, munitions material handling equipment, and other site support resources as needed. The position also involves operating TICMS and MC2, while working in line with the Performance Work Statement and Amentum’s ISO 9001 quality management system.
Key duties
- Apply and enforce USAF and host-nation explosives safety, AFOSH, and security requirements across all explosive and non-explosive activities at assigned locations and any temporary duty sites.
- Escalate operational concerns affecting munitions work to Munitions Control and the Superintendent.
- Take charge during emergencies and ensure prompt response actions are carried out.
- Perform munitions tasks using established quality procedures, identify risks or issues, and recommend practical fixes.
- May guide and direct Other Country National munitions personnel when required.
- Inspect munitions and containers according to 11A-1-10 and other applicable technical directives.
- Record serviceability, accountability, and related actions accurately and without delay.
- Coordinate with operations staff to resolve any inspection findings related to serviceability or accountability.
- Carry out warehouse inventories and correct inventory variances.
- Support custody accounts assigned to deployed forces.
- Inspect and certify munitions brass, residue, and containers in accordance with 11A-1-60.
- Use TICMS as required by site procedures.
- Repair, recondition, or replace missing and defective parts on munitions containers.
- Carry out munitions storage actions in strict compliance with explosives standards.
- Inspect, operate, and perform operator-level maintenance on forklifts, pallet jacks, manual hoists, and other light handling equipment.
- Inspect and use electronic test tools, metal strapping tools, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors, and power tools.
- Perform minor maintenance on facilities and installed equipment, and keep vehicles, tools, and work areas clean.
- Prepare and present general explosives safety briefings for explosive operations.
- Serve as an entry controller when needed.
- Work the hours needed, including standby duty, to support peacetime and combat-contingency mission demands.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
- Be prepared to work in an office, maintenance shop, warehouse, or outdoors for extended periods.
Minimum qualifications
- Intermediate familiarity with USAF Supply, TMO Munitions, and Tech Order systems, or the equivalent used by another US service.
- Strong computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- May be required to operate material handling equipment.
- Valid home-country driver’s license and the ability to obtain a host-nation driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of experience working with military munitions.
- Completion of formal USAF Munitions Systems training, or an equivalent course for a US service.
- Ability to obtain and keep a Secret US Government clearance; US citizenship is required for that clearance.
- Willingness to wear PPE according to procedure and task requirements.
- Physical ability to perform the job, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel within the country and internationally.
- Normal color vision and depth perception.
Preferred experience
- Working knowledge of all munitions functional areas.
- Intermediate experience with MC2 and other information systems.
- Background in munitions storage, maintenance, control, and inspection procedures for the USAF.
- Experience with TICMS, MC2, TMRS, and IMDS/DPAS M&U for munitions and MMHE.
- At least 2 years of experience as a USAF Munitions Inspector and possession of SEI Code 836 is preferred.
- CCAF degree in Munitions Management is preferred.
Compensation
This role is paid on an hourly basis with additional incentives. The exact rate may differ depending on duties, education, experience, skills, internal pay alignment, market conditions, relevant agreements, and legal requirements.
