Role Overview
The Multimedia Designer plays a crucial role in visually expressing the mission of the Better Business Bureau through engaging, brand-consistent designs across various communication channels. This position combines practical production tasks with innovative problem-solving by collaborating closely with Marketing-Communications and Advertising teams to deliver thoughtful and attention-grabbing creative work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and develop original visual designs for marketing, communications, advertising, public engagement, and community outreach materials, applying independent artistic judgment in areas such as layout, typography, color palettes, imagery, and overall design execution.
- Create polished presentations, event materials, signage, infographics, maps, and other branded collateral targeting both internal and external audiences.
- Design infographics, illustrations, and visual storytelling elements to support advocacy and community initiatives.
- Produce and edit motion graphics and short videos while organizing multimedia assets for ongoing accessibility.
- Lead creative design for assigned projects from the concept phase through to final production, ensuring alignment with brand standards and review protocols.
- Handle complex design projects autonomously, overseeing the entire process from briefs through completion.
- Maintain brand consistency by ensuring all visual outputs adhere to BBB's branding guidelines across platforms.
- Interpret broad creative briefs and campaign goals into unique, imaginative graphic arts outputs.
- Update and manage presentation templates, branded communications, and the creative asset library.
- Oversee website content and multimedia components to enhance communication effectiveness and continuous content improvement.
- Remain updated on current design trends, software tools, and technologies including AI-powered design utilities to keep visual content innovative.
- Collaborate with teams to build integrated, impactful campaigns while balancing multiple projects and timelines using project management tools.
- Coordinate with external vendors, print shops, photographers, and other production partners to facilitate material creation.
- Review proofs and manage quality assurance from planning to final output.
- Support events, community outreach, and special projects with creative services and assist with additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or similar professional experience.
- Demonstrated graphic design experience with a strong and diverse portfolio.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Solid understanding of design principles including typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication capabilities.
- Ability to critically and analytically solve problems both independently and within teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills with aptitude for multitasking under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of AI-assisted design tools such as Adobe Firefly and Midjourney to enhance ideation and production speed.
- Experience with collaborative design and prototyping platforms like Figma.
- Basic understanding of web design and user experience, including responsive layouts, accessibility standards, and familiarity with content management systems.
- Competence in motion graphics and short-form video editing for social media platforms like Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
- Ability to visualize data, simplifying complex information into intuitive and accessible infographics.
