Medical Laboratory Assistant

Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the Blood Science laboratory team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The position involves performing various tasks within Blood Sciences such as specimen collection, verification, labeling, filing, and data entry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and contribute to their regular review and updates.
• Prepare, store, and use reagents and consumables appropriately for patient investigations while maintaining awareness of COSHH regulations.
• Monitor and report quality control measures indicating any performance loss.
• Alert when circumstances may lead to service disruption.
• Comply with safe handling procedures of toxic, carcinogenic, harmful, and flammable materials.
• Accurately receive and verify requests and samples according to Minimum Identification Criteria standards.
• Confirm proper sample receipt and assign barcodes to samples and forms, ensuring correct distribution.
