About the Company
Omnisent is a Munich-based acoustic AI startup founded in late 2024. The company builds new-generation sensing technology that converts sound into live, actionable intelligence. Its work brings together physics, machine learning, and mechanical engineering around a shared goal: uncovering the hidden value in acoustic signals.
At the heart of the product are ultra-low-power sonic devices and the company’s Large Acoustic Model (LAM), a foundation model trained on complex non-speech audio. Together, these systems make it possible to detect, classify, and locate acoustic events in real time — from spotting drones in restricted airspace to identifying air leaks in industrial settings.
Role Overview
This position is focused on building, testing, and improving mechanical systems that support Omnisent’s acoustic sensing platform. You will work hands-on with prototypes, test setups, enclosures, and experimental hardware while collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to move a deep-tech solution from concept to deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, build, assemble, and adapt aerial and robotic platforms for system validation.
- Create mechanical test rigs and fixtures for acoustic, RF, and structural assessments.
- Set up and run lab experiments, including structured data capture and careful documentation.
- Produce rapid prototypes using FDM, SLA, SLS, and subtractive manufacturing methods such as CNC machining and waterjet cutting.
- Contribute to enclosure and component design with attention to acoustics, thermal performance, durability, and manufacturability.
- Manage product lifecycle documentation, including BOM updates, revision control, and test records.
- Prepare prototypes and fixtures for handoff to external testing labs and manufacturing partners.
- Work cross-functionally to help transition a deep-tech product from early concept to real-world use.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
- Solid understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
- Practical CAD experience with tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar software.
- Hands-on experience in prototyping and testing, with a strong maker-oriented mindset.
- Well-organized approach with a focus on documentation quality and design traceability.
- Strong English communication skills; German language ability is considered a plus.
- Valid EU work authorization.
- Preferred: experience with drones, robots, or electromechanical systems.
- Preferred: exposure to FEA or simulation tools.
- Preferred: experience working with external testing laboratories or engineering partners.
- Preferred: interest in large-scale sensing and advanced monitoring technologies.
Benefits
- Very competitive compensation, plus virtual stock options aligned with your experience and contribution.
- A fast-moving environment with substantial responsibility, challenging work, and strong learning opportunities.
- The chance to play an important role in shaping the company’s direction and outcomes.
Additional Information
Applicants are asked to include a cover letter explaining their personal interests, what motivates them, why this role is appealing, and why Omnisent is the right choice.
