Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Materials Inspector to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. This role involves conducting essential tests and inspections of materials arriving on-site to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform testing and supervise sampling of assigned project materials on-site.
- Oversee laboratory and on-site testing conducted by contractors or third-party entities and prepare test reports and samples.
- Liaise with Materials Engineer to verify work approval for testing and address any concerns.
- Conduct timely sampling and testing to prevent delays in contractor operations.
- Regularly inspect incoming materials to ensure compliance with approved sources and suppliers.
- Participate actively in quality control and assurance processes.
- Support the Materials Engineer with material review, approval, testing, and acceptance activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Materials, or a related technical field with at least 3 years of study.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in roads and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and steel, including relevant standards and specifications.
- Ability to interpret working drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and method statements, and enforce compliance accordingly.
- Proficient in the use of computer technology for data access, record keeping, report generation, and project-specific engineering software.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in the UAE or Dubai is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with project teams.
- Familiarity with modern civil engineering technologies employed in large civil, structural, or industrial construction projects.
