Job description
Role Overview
Join the Health Promotion Board's mission to enhance the health of Singaporeans by contributing to innovative efforts that promote behavioral change. This position focuses on the Healthy Ageing Programmes which aim to empower seniors to live longer, healthier lives by maintaining functionality through healthy habits and social engagement.
Key Responsibilities
As an integral member of the Healthy Ageing team, you will drive the development and delivery of capability-building initiatives to support volunteerism within Active Ageing Programmes in the community. This role involves collaborating with partners to create and operationalize meaningful volunteer roles enabling seniors to lead and support community-based activities across nationwide Active Ageing Centres (AACs). You will assist in strengthening AACs' abilities to design and sustain physical activity programs independently.
Responsibilities include designing structured training curricula, practical resources, and guidelines to equip senior volunteers with necessary skills and confidence. Training will cater to diverse volunteer backgrounds and focus on low-barrier physical activities such as brisk walking, weekly fitness classes, and virtual exercise sessions.
You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders such as AACs, institutes of higher learning, and Regional Health Clusters to align volunteer opportunities with national senior volunteer efforts. Additionally, you will identify future capability requirements and models to enable AACs to independently recruit, train, and deploy physically active volunteer-led programs.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is a motivated professional with 3 to 5 years of experience in programme management, learning and development, or community engagement, especially within social or health-related sectors. Prior work with seniors, volunteer coordination, or community health is highly desirable.
Qualifications include a degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Resources, Education, Psychology, or similar fields; postgraduate credentials are beneficial. You should possess a strong grasp of adult learning principles applicable to volunteer training for varied senior populations and exhibit excellent stakeholder management skills. Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment while maintaining a focus on strategic goals is crucial. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to convey complex ideas simply for diverse audiences, including seniors, partners, and government officials.
