The Manager of People within People Transition Services is responsible for overseeing the entire preboarding process, ensuring new employees feel welcomed and supported from acceptance of offer through readiness to begin work. This role also manages employee transitions such as terminations and transfers, while striving to continuously enhance communication, compliance, reporting, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full preboarding journey for all new hires—including contractors—to provide a consistent and positive experience.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition to ensure smooth transitions from offer acceptance to start date, owning all preboarding activities.
  • Act as the main point of contact for new employees before they start, keeping communication clear, answering queries, and resolving any concerns.
  • Keep hiring managers, leadership, and other stakeholders informed about progress, compliance requirements, potential risks, and ensure tasks through ServiceNow are tracked and completed promptly.
  • Supervise and develop a team of People Assistants and Coordinators responsible for executing preboarding and certain transition tasks, driving performance and removing obstacles in a high-volume setting.
  • Lead initiatives to improve processes, enhancing the experience for new hires and internal stakeholders and increasing operational efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Collaborate with onboarding vendors (background checks, occupational health) and compliance teams to guarantee all preboarding steps are accurate and meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in human resources, business, operations, or a related discipline; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Progressive background in employee lifecycle operations like people operations, onboarding/preboarding, shared services, or employee transitions, especially in high-volume environments.
  • At least 2 to 3 years managing comprehensive preboarding or onboarding processes with attention to detail, compliance, and system accuracy.
  • Experience supporting hiring for both full-time employees and contractors, including knowledge of relevant documentation and workflows.
  • Familiarity with processing terminations, internal transfers, job changes, and similar lifecycle changes.
  • Proven leadership skills with a record of coaching, developing, and motivating teams towards high service and execution standards.
  • A strong orientation toward process improvement, having successfully identified and implemented operational enhancements.
