Job description
Position Overview
The Manager in Training at our Wetumpka store supports the Store Manager in overseeing the day-to-day store operations and administrative tasks. This role requires knowledge across all product departments and involves collaborating to establish effective strategies to achieve store goals. The Manager in Training enforces company policies and promotes sales initiatives, while acting as a brand ambassador to provide a superior customer experience and foster customer loyalty. This position also serves as the acting Store Manager during their absence and entails developing leadership capabilities encompassing all managerial duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in managing store assets and operational efficiency.
- Work jointly on action plans covering sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and employee scheduling.
- Take full responsibility for store management in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Provide guidance and product knowledge support to staff and customers across departments.
- Monitor inventory levels, sales data, and expenses to ensure departmental profitability.
- Direct team members to complete departmental standards and tasks efficiently.
- Keep the Store Manager updated on inventory trends and customer behavior.
- Maintain high-quality customer service standards consistently.
- Perform administrative tasks and receive training for full managerial responsibilities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service including greeting and assisting multiple customers during busy times.
- Promote and sell Hibbett and City Gear products and services effectively.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies and operational manuals.
- Safeguard company assets by following internal controls and reporting any potential risks of fraud.
Supervisory Duties
Oversee and coordinate employee activities when the Store Manager is unavailable, including hiring, training, directing assignments, and conflict resolution according to organizational policies and legal regulations.
Candidate Requirements
- Retail background, preferably with experience in athletic footwear and apparel.
- Between one and three years of customer service experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment.
- Capable of supporting team management and tracking business objectives and profitability.
- Proactive self-starter who can independently handle critical tasks without prompting.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask effectively.
- Teamwork focused individual passionate about excellent customer service and product sales.
