Role Overview
UPES is seeking an experienced Manager for the Chief Proctor Office to oversee student discipline, disciplinary records, and response coordination for sensitive situations on campus. This is an onsite full-time position based in Dehradun.
Education and Background
A postgraduate qualification from a reputed institute is required, with an MBA preferred. Relevant experience may come from the education sector, defence background with preference for short service commission rather than higher ranks, or legal roles. Candidates with UG/PG law qualifications are also considered relevant.
Experience
The role calls for 7 to 8 years of professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
The position focuses on discipline management, student conduct, documentation, and emergency coordination across the university.
- Run awareness and sensitization sessions covering anti-ragging, substance abuse, harassment, fights and brawls, misbehavior involving students, faculty, and staff, student misconduct, cyber crime, and campus discipline.
- Work with Discipline Ambassadors and School Proctors, and involve external specialists and distinguished speakers when needed.
- Monitor hostels and institutional events through regular inspections to ensure order, discipline, and decorum.
- Put disciplinary procedures into practice and manage related administrative actions.
- Issue punishment orders and handle appeal orders.
- Maintain discipline probation records, mentor allocations, and TA assignments.
- Follow up consistently with mentors on student progress and behavioural improvement.
- Maintain complete and organized records for the Chief Proctor Office related to disciplinary matters.
- Prepare and preserve student case files with evidence, show-cause notices, orders, signed reports, written statements, and other supporting records.
- Share disciplinary reports and documentation with the Appeal Committee, senior leadership, and other concerned authorities as required.
- Respond proactively to emergency and sensitive situations.
- Coordinate with police authorities, government officials, and the university administration to ensure timely action and communication.
- Carry out actions as required based on directions or information received from police, government, and university authorities.
