Job Summary
The Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) Technician is accountable for conducting general upkeep and repairs within guest rooms and common areas, including preventative maintenance at the entry level. This role also involves repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering and upkeep operations throughout the hotel property and surrounding grounds.
- Address maintenance and engineering issues as they arise.
- Implement and oversee maintenance and preventative maintenance initiatives.
- Attend promptly to building safety matters.
- Ensure the maintenance department complies with established hotel procedures.
- Support departmental maintenance programs by completing scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
- Assist management in selecting appropriate supplies and equipment for maintenance activities.
- Handle guest concerns related to maintenance effectively.
- Maintain guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces through diverse tasks spanning carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, air-conditioning, painting, wall covering, and tiling, ensuring the hotel stays attractive and well-maintained.
- Possess competency in using basic hand and power tools.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in construction or hotel maintenance departments is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry principles is required.
- Capable of performing duties with keen attention to detail, speed, accuracy, and consistency while displaying courtesy and cooperative behavior with minimal supervision.
- Flexible to work varying shifts and schedules.
- Problem-solving skills to handle practical challenges in situations lacking clear standards.
- Dependable punctuality and regular attendance are essential.
- Availability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
