Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Fitter for a two-year fixed term contract to support our maintenance team during weekend shifts. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidate will be proactive, reliable, and able to juggle numerous tasks with precision and strong communication skills. Flexibility to work weekend hours is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on a variety of factory machinery following company and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules, job cards, and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records manually or via computerized systems.
- Document service and preventive maintenance completion, ensuring job cards are appropriately signed off.
- Update shift handover logbooks at the conclusion of each shift.
- Manage spare parts records and inventories, logging parts usage.
- Identify machinery weaknesses and suggest additional maintenance needs.
- Develop mechanical knowledge and skills by understanding machine functions and maintenance techniques.
- Work independently and collaborate with operators, chargehands, and supervisors to complete maintenance work.
- Consult machine manuals, drawings, and maintenance schedules as required for task completion.
- Remove hazardous machinery from service to ensure workplace health and safety.
- Participate in both on-the-job and external training, which may include overseas travel for new equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Fitter or possess a relevant mechanical qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience in a maintenance environment.
- Capable of working at heights and within confined spaces.
- Basic computer literacy is necessary.
- Experience with overhead cranes and lifting equipment maintenance is beneficial.
- Familiarity with heavy steel construction settings is advantageous.
- Availability to work weekend shifts from 06:30 to 18:30 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
