Overview
We are seeking candidates for various Legal Assistant roles within leading Canadian law firms, primarily located in Toronto, ON. Candidates should have experience in corporate, commercial or civil litigation, or employment and labour law sectors. The positions emphasize client service, effective communication, meticulous organizational skills, and adaptability to shifting priorities. Candidates must handle sensitive information discreetly and excel both independently and within team settings. Primary Responsibilities
- Perform general administrative tasks including drafting correspondence and legal documents, scheduling, photocopying, booking meeting spaces, arranging travel, and processing invoices and expenses.
- Manage client inquiries and provide timely follow-ups as necessary.
- Maintain and regularly update a bring-forward system; provide reminders as needed.
- Create first drafts of standard legal documents utilizing precedents, revisions, and track changes.
- Ensure physical and electronic filing systems are well-organized and current.
- Undertake additional projects and tasks as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Legal Assistant or Law Clerk studies.
- At least three years of practical experience in corporate, commercial or civil litigation, or employment and labour law.
- Strong grasp of business and legal terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting, docketing, and data management systems.
- Outstanding organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy, including proofreading and punctuation.
- Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced, team-driven environments.
- Highly developed problem-solving capabilities.
Compensation
The salary range for these roles is between 50000 and 80000 CAD annually, depending on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
