Overview
This role involves assisting in the execution and oversight of various natural area management tasks, including ecological restoration, weed control, and replanting efforts throughout the Mackay Region located in Queensland, Australia. The Leading Hand Natural Area works closely with the Supervisor of Natural Area Management to aid in coordinating daily field operations and providing leadership to team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the supervision and coordination of staff working in natural area field activities.
- Contribute to the implementation of ecological restoration, revegetation, and weed control initiatives.
- Plan, schedule, and execute maintenance tasks and small-scale projects.
- Ensure all activities are completed safely, efficiently, and following established service standards and protocols.
- Help promote a positive team culture emphasizing workplace health, safety, and well-being.
- Operate and maintain relevant plant machinery and equipment used in natural area management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications in Bush Regeneration, Natural Resource Management, or a similar discipline (Diploma preferred; other qualifications will be considered).
- Possession of a current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
- Completion of General Construction Induction Training (White Card).
- Chainsaw Level 1 Licence certification.
- ACDC Weed Spraying Licence.
- Experience providing work instructions and support to field teams.
- Demonstrable ability to plan, schedule, and deliver tasks or projects effectively.
- Hands-on experience in natural area management, bush regeneration, revegetation, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of vegetation restoration principles and relevant legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building strong working relationships.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to work safely in outdoor environments.
