About Port Augusta Technical College
Port Augusta Technical College is a pioneering education institution in South Australia dedicated to transforming technical education standards. Supported by the State Government, the college provides a cutting-edge learning environment with skill-based training tailored for secondary school students who continue enrolment at their usual schools while attending the college part-time. Located alongside Port Augusta Secondary School, the college features on-site accommodation and offers industry training across several fields including civil, resources and infrastructure, health and social support, hospitality and tourism, and multi-trades such as plumbing, building, electrical, and boilermaking careers.
Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated and visionary leader to join our team and help lead this significant educational initiative. The role involves shaping innovative education facilities, collaborating within a supportive team to blend vocational and academic learning, and establishing strong links with prominent employers and training partners within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the advancement of professional learning environments by enhancing partnerships among educators, trainers, mentors, industry, and employers, both inside and outside the college, promoting open communication and feedback to boost student achievement.
- Lead strategic efforts to apply a variety of student support programs including career education, wellbeing initiatives, and mentoring services within the college and in collaboration with employer partners.
- Create and maintain a positive and productive workplace culture centered on delivering high-quality student outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated capability to build effective relationships and communication channels with staff, students, parents, and training partners, fostering professional collaboration and improving student educational results.
- Experience in leading the design and delivery of engaging teaching methods that encourage student involvement and support learner development.
- Background in managing adaptable industry pathway curricula and educational reforms, including community and industry engagement to establish career pathways for students.
Additional Information and Terms
The role is a full-time fraction position (1.0 FTE), classified as Leader Band B-2. The tenure spans from 22 January 2027 to 21 January 2032. The annual salary for the position is $136,872 (full-time equivalent) under teacher employment conditions, with potential eligibility for extra financial incentives and attraction allowances.
