Position Overview

The Lead of Risk Strategy role is a senior leadership position charged with defining, developing, and overseeing fraud risk management efforts. This role focuses on strengthening risk detection capabilities, refining risk frameworks, and aligning risk approaches with broader business growth goals. The position entails innovating in fraud detection, risk prevention, and fostering collaboration with compliance to maintain security and integrity while supporting scalable business expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute comprehensive risk strategies focused on mitigating fraud risks affecting the platform and users.
• Expand detection mechanisms targeting critical risk domains such as Account Takeover (ATO), credit card fraud, and emerging scam schemes.
• Support new business developments and product launches with customized risk control strategies.
• Enhance governance of risk strategy in partnership with engineering to optimize detection and prevention efforts.
• Monitor important risk KPIs continuously to maximize protection and minimize losses.
• Manage and ensure effectiveness and steadiness of risk strategy execution.
• Optimize cost-efficiency concerning vendor management and overall risk strategy administration.
• Provide project management and innovation support for transaction screening, monitoring, and compliance activities.
• Lead initiatives to streamline transaction screening rules to reduce complexity without sacrificing compliance effectiveness.
• Work closely with compliance teams to facilitate new business scenarios aligning risk controls with regulatory demands.
• Lead and develop the risk strategy team to implement organizational change and support business scalability.
• Promote an agile, responsive team culture capable of meeting dynamic risks and high-demand situations.
• Identify and implement improvements to team structure and processes for enhanced efficiency and growth.
• Utilize advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models, to automate and improve risk detection and prevention workflows.
• Pilot and expand deployment of new risk tools and approaches, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years experience in risk management, fraud prevention, or strategic risk roles within fintech, financial services, technology sectors, notably cryptocurrency industry.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing risk strategies yielding measurable risk reduction and operational gains.
• Strong competency in fraud detection techniques and knowledge of compliance regulations.
• Experience handling complex projects and cross-disciplinary collaboration with teams including Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, and Product Management.
• Demonstrated leadership capable of steering organizational transformation and cultivating high-performing teams.
• Comfort with data-driven decision-making and familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in risk management preferred.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving abilities.
