Overview

The Lead Maintenance Engineer will oversee the dependability and integrity of all mechanical equipment at the plant, managing predictive and preventive maintenance to ensure consistent equipment availability. This role requires compliance with company policies, safety standards, and budget constraints while collaborating across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily mechanical maintenance operations ensuring adherence to relevant policies, standard operating procedures, and guidelines to maintain controlled and uniform workflows.
  • Stay updated with industry-leading mechanical maintenance practices and actively suggest improvements to processes and systems.
  • Standardize and apply best practices and guidelines to enhance reliability of plant mechanical assets.
  • Plan and supervise maintenance budgets and costs for optimal resource utilization.
  • Develop and coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance schedules on daily, weekly, and monthly bases, aligning with production, planning, technology, and CES teams.
  • Design resource allocation plans for routine maintenance and planned shutdowns.
  • Monitor and review mechanical maintenance KPIs regularly to ensure targets are met.
  • Control inventory for mechanical spares by maintaining approval processes and vendor coordination to uphold effective maintenance operations.
  • Lead maintenance activities, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion; conduct troubleshooting and root cause analyses as needed.
  • Drive obsolescence management efforts to improve equipment availability and oversee capital expenditures, repairs, and refurbishments to sustain equipment performance.
  • Coordinate turnaround and shutdown projects to meet schedules and review management of change (MOC) documentation from a mechanical perspective.
  • Participate in reliability and integrity assessments to ensure safe mechanical systems operations.
  • Perform regular plant inspections to detect and address potential mechanical failures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Production, Quality, CES, EHS, and Technology to identify and resolve plant operational issues.
  • Manage minor project activities and coordinate with external agencies as necessary.
  • Interface with customs and excise departments for priority clearance of mechanical materials and with IMMS for codification processes of urgent items.
  • Verify and approve mechanical maintenance records and data entries in SAP; maintain documentation for audits and reviews.
  • Enforce workplace safety, fire, and environmental compliance within maintenance operations and conduct incident investigations and corrective action implementations.
  • Support emergency responses related to safety and fire events promptly.
  • Implement energy conservation initiatives aligned with environmental sustainability goals.
  • Participate in audits, ensure corrective actions from findings are addressed, and maintain compliance with mandatory safety and operational trainings.
  • Supervise contractor activities ensuring strict adherence to company policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering is mandatory.
  • 3 to 7 years of plant maintenance experience, with diploma holders requiring proportionally more experience.

  • Experience in mechanical equipment maintenance including periodic, proactive, and shutdown tasks.
