Job description
Overview
This position focuses on maintaining the safety and integrity of process systems by leading safety evaluations and ensuring compliance with safety protocols to support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate safety studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and LOPA for process systems.
- Engage in Management of Change processes, conduct Risk Assessments, and participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Perform Dispersion Analysis utilizing PHAST software.
- Take part in incident investigations and conduct root cause analyses.
- Lead process safety audits within the plant environment.
- Analyze and review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from a safety viewpoint, providing recommendations related to equipment, instruments, and process safety.
- Understand system logic and interlocks with respect to various operations.
- Facilitate identification, evaluation, mitigation planning, prioritization, verification, review, and tracking of process safety hazards and their corrective actions.
- Monitor and ensure closure of safety study recommendations.
- Conduct training sessions for plant personnel on process safety procedures.
- Evaluate vendor specifications and equipment from a process safety perspective.
- Collaborate with department leads to incorporate up-to-date safety inputs in projects requiring cross-functional coordination.
- Maintain clear communication and prepare technical documentation in English.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- At least 10 years of experience in operations or process safety within oil & gas, petrochemical, or related sectors.
- Certification in process safety management is required.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret technical data and assess safety risks.
- Proficiency with relevant software tools including PHAST for risk assessment and data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage stakeholders at various organizational levels.
