Language Specialist (English)

Role overview

This is a remote hourly contract opportunity for a Linguistic Expert based in the United Kingdom. The assignment is designed for someone who can work between 10 and 40 hours each week, with compensation ranging from $40 to $95 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate video transcriptions with precise time markers.
• Assess and explain how speakers sound, what they intend, and the emotion behind their delivery.
• Review grammar, sentence structure, and the quality of language used.
• Clarify advanced vocabulary and interpret words in their specific context.
• Carry out detailed language analysis covering tone, register, and situational context.
• Work with teammates to keep outputs aligned and consistent.
• Ensure written and spoken communication remains clear and high-quality across all tasks.

Requirements

• English proficiency at native level, with strong command over both written and spoken communication.
• Proven background in transcription, linguistic annotation, or other language-centric work.
• Solid grasp of linguistic principles, grammar, and language interpretation.
• Careful eye for detail when transcribing and tagging audio-visual content.
• Ability to accurately identify speaker emotion, tone, and grammatical subtleties.
• Well-developed organizational habits and the ability to meet deadlines reliably.
• Comfort working both independently and in coordination with a remote team.
