Role Overview
The Language and Literacy Content Specialist will join our Product Development team to produce, edit, and enhance high-quality, research-based educational materials for literacy products and professional development initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Product Production, this position is integral to delivering tools that empower educators to improve literacy outcomes for all students. This role requires deep literacy expertise accompanied by proven experience in creating content for educator audiences beyond classroom teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and refine professional development content for language and literacy programs, including digital and print formats.
- Design content informed by adult learning principles ensuring it is engaging, culturally responsive, and accessible to diverse educators.
- Manage content development workflows efficiently from initial drafts to final versions while adhering to project timelines and product roadmaps.
- Stay informed on evidence-based literacy practices, standards, and emerging trends to maintain relevance and alignment with current research.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and product teams to ensure content supports instructional goals and educator needs.
- Review and proofread content to maintain clarity, accuracy, and compliance with CORE's quality standards and style guidelines.
- Incorporate user feedback and guidance from leadership to continually enhance content quality.
- Contribute to processes that uphold CORE's mission of equitable and accessible literacy education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Literacy, Linguistics, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of professional content development experience in educational organizations or companies, working on materials that serve multiple clients or markets. Experience restricted to classroom teaching or single-district curriculum development is insufficient.
- Preferred experience in product development environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams and iterating based on user input.
- At least 3 years of successful experience teaching or coaching English Language Arts.
- In-depth applied knowledge of the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and language acquisition, with capability to translate research into practical educational content.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading proficiency, adept at communicating complex ideas clearly and accessibly.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across departments.
- Familiarity with tools such as G-Suite, Zoom, and other educational technologies.
- Experience using project management software like Asana or Jira is preferred.
- Knowledge of learning or content management systems is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits
CORE Learning offers competitive annual salaries ranging from 95000 to 113000 USD, commensurate with experience and education. Benefits include flexible vacation time, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, disability and life coverage options, and an employer-sponsored 401K retirement plan with a 5% contribution, immediately vested and with no cap. This role is full-time and exempt from overtime.
