Role overview
Tech Pipeline is supporting a Manchester client that is dealing with heavy operational slowdowns inside its business teams. This opening is for a Junior UI Engineer working entirely remotely, with the main focus on improving the interfaces that help staff handle large data backlogs and approval workflows.
The work is centred on practical front-end fixes rather than abstract concept work. You will help make internal dashboards easier to use, remove points of friction in forms and workflows, and ensure users can clearly see where a record sits in a manual reconciliation process.
What you will do
- Keep internal UI components updated so everyday users can move through tools with less friction.
- Investigate browser logs to find why a front-end element is failing to retrieve the right server data.
- Map user journeys to spot where a routing issue or interface gap is creating a delay.
- Tune CSS and JavaScript to correct layout problems or broken fields in operational dashboards.
- Work with backend engineers to make sure reconciliation data is shown correctly to finance and operations teams.
- Check new interface releases in multiple browsers so the reporting flow stays reliable.
- Write clear documentation for UI changes and prepare simple handover guides for the client team.
- Observe users during their daily work to understand where they get stuck.
What we are looking for
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and the basics of JavaScript, whether learned through study or personal projects.
- A sharp eye for detail and an understanding of how small interface changes affect task completion.
- Curiosity about how systems work and a willingness to fix broken parts rather than ignore them.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical adjustments in simple terms.
- Healthy testing habits, including checking your own work before it is released.
- Openness to learning new frameworks or libraries based on the client’s needs.
- Comfort in a fully remote environment where written updates matter most.
Helpful background
- Some familiarity with React or a similar modern JavaScript library.
- Basic experience using Git or another version control system.
- Previous exposure to customer-facing or operations work, including outside the tech industry.
- Understanding of APIs and how browsers fetch and shape data.
What the role offers
- Fully remote working from anywhere.
- A paid salary that is competitive for an entry-level role in the market.
- Practical experience solving real operational problems and working with messy data systems.
- An emphasis on hands-on delivery and measurable outcomes instead of slide-deck-heavy processes.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers who value real-world facts over theory.
- A clear opportunity to grow into more advanced engineering work over time.
Working style at Tech Pipeline
Tech Pipeline believes documentation is one of the best ways to communicate. The team works remotely and relies on detailed written updates instead of long meetings. The focus is on identifying the exact issue, fixing the routing rule or interface problem, and keeping the system stable. The work is aimed at removing practical friction for the people using these tools every day.
Additional information
The team stays involved through the first month of live operation to confirm the solution holds up, and then moves on to the next challenge. This keeps the work grounded in real outcomes and makes progress visible.
