About the Role
Are you an eager geophysicist seeking to launch your career in a dynamic environment? Join DUG, located in Houston, TX, and be part of a top-notch processing and imaging team. The position begins as an internship, offering hands-on involvement from day one and a pathway to long-term career growth within the company. Collaborate closely with dedicated geoscientists and clients to gain expertise in seismic processing, depth imaging, and full waveform inversion (FWI), progressively becoming a skilled geophysicist.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams in seismic processing and depth imaging tasks.
- Conduct seismic velocity analysis and quality control (QC).
- Perform QC on production stages of seismic data processing.
- Generate QC attributes such as RMS maps and horizons.
- Operate and oversee production workflows using company computer systems.
- Prepare testing and processing reports detailing project outcomes.
- Develop and assemble workflows for seismic processing activities.
- Report any unresolved production issues or quality concerns to team members.
- Adhere strictly to the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the team leader.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) in Geophysics, Geoscience, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering with a physics background, or a related field.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Self-motivated to meet deadlines and fulfill assigned duties efficiently.
- Mandatory permanent work authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Experience (Not Mandatory)
- Familiarity with Linux, Unix, and geoscience-related software.
- Exposure to the oil and gas sector, particularly seismic or digital signal processing.
- Experience with Unix Seismic Processing (USP) systems and scripting capabilities.
