Project Overview
The New Dunedin Hospital project represents New Zealand's largest hospital construction undertaking, covering 71,700 square meters on the former Cadbury Chocolate Factory site. The Inpatient Building will feature modern acute medical facilities supporting a tertiary teaching hospital, accommodating 424 beds with space for future expansion of 53 beds. Facilities include 24 operating theatres—with capacity for two additional theatres—and imaging and radiology suites.
Role Opportunity
This is a unique chance for a Tier 1 Junior Engineer to develop and advance their skills by contributing to a landmark healthcare infrastructure project. As a Site Engineer focusing on civil and structural disciplines, responsibilities include creating robust work methodologies, maintaining quality assurance, and ensuring the safe execution of in-ground services, site roadworks, and the building superstructure for the New Dunedin Hospital project. The position suits an early-career engineer eager to gain substantial experience on large-scale civil or structural projects.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field from an accredited university.
- Completion of 90-120 days of relevant work experience as required by course or university standards.
- Prior exposure to large-scale construction or infrastructure projects is beneficial.
- Skills in stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation.
- Ability to modify design processes and assess performance and progress analytically.
- Proficiency in necessary computer applications supporting the role.
- Understanding of Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management legislation, standards, and systems, especially related to design risk impacts on operations.
- Competency in identifying, assessing, controlling, and managing quantitative and qualitative design risks.
- Knowledge of financial management procedures, processes, and tools.
- Familiarity with risk management protocols and reporting and compliance auditing related to design.
