Insider Threat Analyst

Overview

Join Standard Chartered as an Insider Threat Analyst, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the Bank by identifying, investigating, and mitigating insider risks and threats. Embedded within the Cybersecurity & Anti-Crime Technology division, this position contributes to protecting the institution's assets through advanced investigations and surveillance of suspicious activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop long-term strategies alongside leadership to address emerging insider threat risks.
• Analyze insider threat trends and monitor user activities via detection tools to identify indicators of risk.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with HR, Legal, IT, and other teams to align insider threat policies with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Lead detailed investigations into incidents such as data leaks, espionage, fraud, policy violations, and intellectual property theft, using forensics and interview techniques to provide evidence-based conclusions.
• Enhance detection processes by integrating AI-enabled analytics on platforms like Databricks to refine risk indicators and escalate major incidents appropriately.
• Mentor team members fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
• Perform regular risk assessments, implement mitigation strategies, and assist in governance adherence ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulations.
• Deliver actionable reports and insights to senior leadership to support decision-making and operational improvements.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient with SIEM tools (especially Splunk) to query, analyze, and interpret security events, with knowledge of UEBA and DLP technologies being a plus.
• Experience with insider threat platforms such as Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management, including alert triage and handling.
• Familiarity with insider threat frameworks like MITRE and CERT, and understanding of behavioral risk indicators.
• Strong SQL skills for data analysis and experience with big data platforms such as Databricks or Hadoop to leverage AI-based analytics.
• Knowledgeable in cybersecurity standards like NIST CSF and MITRE ATT&CK.

Experience and Certifications

• Minimum 3 years of cybersecurity experience, including at least 1 year focused on insider threat detection or behavioral analysis.
• Educational background or equivalent experience in digital forensics, insider threat investigation, or related roles.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ITPM, GCITP, or credentials focused on incident management, forensics, or investigations are advantageous.
