About NHS 24
NHS 24 serves as a national provider delivering tele-health and tele-care services around the clock, 365 days a year, to the people of Scotland. It offers triage, advice, guidance, and information on health and healthcare services via telephone and online. NHS 24 operates from five regional centres including Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Cardonald and Clydebank. This position adopts a hybrid working model with one day per week generally office-based, and the employee must be within commuting distance of a regional centre and able to travel to others when necessary.
Role Overview
The Information Governance Officer is tasked with ensuring NHS 24 complies fully with board policies, legislation, and government regulations related to information rights and data responsibilities. Working within the Information Governance and Security Team, the post holder manages requests such as Data Subject Access and Freedom of Information, aligning them with NHS 24 policies and national legislation.
Key Duties
- Offer expert advice and interpret queries related to Information Governance for staff.
- Generate regular reports for committees, monitor, and track request statuses.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions on Information Governance, especially during new staff inductions, collaborating with the Organisational Development Leadership and Learning Team and engaging diverse staff groups.
- Lead quarterly reviews of information assets at the directorate level to ensure register accuracy and record keeping.
Candidate Profile
- Education to SCQF level 9 or possess equivalent experience and expertise in Information Governance.
- Strong knowledge of current laws, policies, and procedures concerning Information Governance, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information, Records Management, and Information Security relevant to NHS Scotland.
- Hands-on experience with Data Protection and Information Governance topics such as DPIAs, Sharing Agreements, Data Subject Rights, Records Management, and FOI processes.
