Job description
Overview
This role is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations, including recreation/health club and potentially laundry services, ensuring guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are maintained to high standards. The position involves inspection duties and accountability for corrective actions, balancing service quality, guest and employee satisfaction, and budget management.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely communication of guest room statuses to the Front Desk.
- Perform daily inspections of guestrooms and public areas.
- Organize cleaning priorities based on immediate needs and upcoming check-outs.
- Maintain inventory to ensure adequate housekeeping supplies.
- Support and supervise inspection programs across all hotel spaces.
- Manage departmental operations with a focus on meeting or exceeding budget objectives.
- Verify that staff have appropriate supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
- Communicate necessary attention areas to staff and confirm follow-through.
- Supervise daily housekeeping shifts ensuring policy compliance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, communicating clear goals to achieve desired outcomes.
- Use various on-the-job training tools to train new staff and offer ongoing training.
- Foster open and collaborative employee relationships and maintain scheduling and attendance tracking aligned with business needs.
- Ensure employees understand their expectations and comply with property policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Oversee staffing to balance guest service, operational requirements, and financial targets.
- Observe service behaviors, provide feedback, and support employee recognition programs.
- Handle employee feedback, resolve concerns, and participate in progressive discipline actions.
- Set a positive example for guest relations and uphold the brand's service culture.
- Lead corrective action plans aimed at enhancing guest satisfaction and empower employees to deliver excellent service.
- Respond to guest issues and continuously strive for service improvement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with at least two years of housekeeping or relevant professional experience.
- Alternatively, a two-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field with no experience required.
