Role Overview

This position is reserved exclusively for Saudi Nationals, as part of an initiative to foster local talent and support national workforce development. The Housekeeping Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of the Housekeeping Department by managing staffing logistics, room readiness, inventory control, communication, quality assurance, and administrative duties.

Acting as a central point of contact between housekeeping teams, laundry services, front office, and other departments, the Coordinator ensures that cleanliness standards and brand requirements are consistently upheld. The role includes supervising operations, assisting with staff training, monitoring inspections, managing documentation and inventory, and facilitating seamless shift handovers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Uphold comprehensive knowledge and strict adherence to departmental policies, service standards, LQA, and brand guidelines across all housekeeping areas.
  • Observe daily housekeeping activities in guest rooms, public spaces, linen and uniform rooms to verify compliance with established standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to assign workloads to Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, and Linen Room personnel ensuring effective operational coverage.
  • Support room readiness by assisting with rush cleans, re-cleans, and prioritizing rooms for inspection.
  • Conduct inspections of cleaned and unoccupied rooms to confirm alignment with LQA and brand standards, reporting discrepancies accordingly.
  • Oversee scheduled deep cleaning operations, including seasonal spring cleaning programs in guest and public areas.
  • Ensure proper handling procedures for Lost & Found items are consistently implemented.
  • Manage and track weekly and monthly inventories of linens, uniforms, amenities, cleaning supplies, and housekeeping materials.
  • Control distribution and replenishment of linen, guest supplies, and cleaning chemicals to maintain adequate stock levels at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of linens and uniforms sent to and received from laundry services.
  • Maintain well-stocked, organized housekeeping pantries and promptly report shortages to supervisors.
  • Ensure upkeep and proper functioning of all housekeeping equipment and tools and coordinate maintenance when necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for employee attendance, uniforms, room histories, and other housekeeping documentation.
  • Assist in staff scheduling, including preparing rosters, time sheets, and shifts to meet occupancy demands.
  • Monitor staffing levels daily, particularly in supervisors' absence, and coordinate necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure completion and proper filing of daily operational logs, checklists, and reports.
  • Act as a contact point for room assignments and other operational matters as needed.
  • Facilitate smooth shift handovers and effective communication of pending tasks.
  • Support training initiatives by maintaining records and tracking on-the-job training activities for housekeeping personnel.
  • Help coach and guide associates to ensure compliance with procedures and quality standards.
  • Take part in quality control inspections and follow-ups to implement corrective measures promptly.
  • Convey departmental updates and instructions effectively to team members and stakeholders.
  • Attend departmental meetings and briefings as required.
  • Provide professional guest service and collaborate courteously with team members and other departments.
  • Respond swiftly and appropriately to guest and associate concerns, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Reception, and Duty Managers to handle room statuses and special guest requests.
  • Extend guest welcomes when requested, especially in supervisors' or managers' absence.
  • Attend to calls and requests from other departments and management related to housekeeping matters.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in supervisors' absence or when delegated by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety across all housekeeping-managed areas.
  • Inspect public spaces, restaurants, and offices daily to uphold cleaning standards and update records.
  • Identify and report health, safety, and maintenance hazards and ensure follow-up with relevant departments.
  • Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and briefings as necessary and comply with emergency procedures and company policies.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration Duties

  • Exercise reasonable care for personal health and safety while at work.
  • Protect the health and safety of others and the workplace by avoiding acts or omissions that may cause harm.
  • Adhere fully to the Hotel's OSHMS policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Report hazardous situations promptly to supervisors if unable to correct them personally.
  • Report all incidents and work-related injuries in timely fashion.
  • Avoid misuse or interference with safety equipment, personal protective equipment, or workplace machinery.
  • Engage in OSH planning and implementation to meet the hotel's health and safety objectives.
  • Attend all mandatory OSH training sessions including safety inductions, on-the-job training, and toolbox talks.

Accountability

  • Demonstrate full commitment to complying with all OSHMS policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Take responsibility for personal and others' safety in the workplace.
  • Report operational, safety, and policy compliance concerns promptly to supervisors or managers.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in a team leader role within a housekeeping department at a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel.
  • Possession of a high school diploma.
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing); additional language skills are advantageous.
  • General Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail; adept at multi-tasking, prioritizing, organizing, and following through independently; ability to remain calm and apply sound judgment in problem-solving; strong guest service orientation and understanding of guest needs; collaborative team player with minimal supervision required; professionalism and confidentiality with guest and hotel information.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient knowledge of hotel and housekeeping operations and procedures; familiarity with computerized hotel systems and basic data analysis; excellent interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and guide team members; strong organizational and time management capabilities, especially under pressure; ability to meet deadlines and effectively participate in meetings.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including transporting materials, maneuvering in various work areas, sustaining stationary positions when necessary, and communicating effectively with guests and colleagues.
