Role overview
The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is looking for a housekeeper to join the Surgical Assessment Unit on a full-time and/or part-time basis. The ward supports 38 inpatients as well as a very busy surgical assessment area.
This position suits someone energetic, dependable, and ready to play a key part in keeping the unit clean, safe, organised, and comfortable for patients and staff.
What the role involves
- Helping the ward run smoothly by maintaining a tidy, hygienic, and welcoming environment.
- Keeping consumable supplies at the right level and taking part in stock ordering when needed.
- Making sure equipment in the department is clean and operating properly.
- Assisting with the movement of patients and equipment.
- Speaking with patients during the day and supporting them where required.
- Communicating clearly with colleagues at all levels, both face to face and by telephone.
What the team is looking for
The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting patients and the nursing team. Previous experience in a healthcare environment is helpful, but it is not essential if you can show that you are committed to learning and developing in the role.
You will be expected to contribute to positive patient experiences and to help maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness across the ward.
