Job description
Position Overview
Join Kepak Group's Pork manufacturing site, McCarren Meats in Cavan, as a full-time, permanent Health and Safety Coordinator reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager. This pivotal role involves coordinating, managing, and implementing various health and safety initiatives on-site, ideal for professionals looking to advance their experience in this vital field.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist support for coordinating and managing health and safety projects.
- Assist with the ongoing development and application of health and safety systems, procedures, and policies across the site.
- Support enforcement of health and safety best practices among staff.
- Advise and assist site-based risk management teams with health and safety risk assessments and initiatives.
- Train employees in department-specific software tools related to risk management, including applications and spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with the Site Health & Safety Manager to conduct and review operational risk assessments.
- Coordinate with safety personnel on accident, incident, and near-miss documentation and investigations, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are implemented.
- Gather evidence for accident investigations, including documentation and photographs, and maintain accident report updates.
Candidate Requirements
- Preferably hold a certificate or diploma in Safety and Health; however, the company can facilitate attainment if needed.
- A minimum of one year post-qualification experience in health and safety, ideally within food production or manufacturing environments.
- Capable of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and challenging existing practices.
- Proficient with IT tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and common software applications.
