Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Head of Secondary for a British curriculum international school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This role involves providing visionary leadership for the secondary phase to uphold exceptional standards in teaching, learning, and student success. The position offers a monthly salary ranging from AED 22,000 to AED 28,000, including housing allowance.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and direct the secondary school division strategically to enhance educational quality and student outcomes.
- Lead and evaluate secondary teaching and pastoral teams, fostering professional growth and career development.
- Supervise curriculum organization, assessment methods, and exam preparation to maintain curricular integration and rigour.
- Formulate and enforce secondary-phase policies covering behavior, safeguarding, and inclusion.
- Analyze educational performance data to pinpoint strengths and improvement areas, executing timely strategies to boost achievement.
- Administer scheduling, staff assignments, and resource management for optimal learning environments and balanced workloads.
- Promote strong, positive engagement with students, parents, and staff as a visible leadership presence.
- Ensure robust pastoral care and safeguarding standards, supporting student welfare and growth.
- Oversee quality control initiatives including classroom observations, learning assessments, and preparations for external inspections.
- Collaborate with senior management on school-wide planning, budgeting, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with postgraduate qualifications such as Master’s, PGCE, or NPQH preferred.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience in secondary education with measurable impact on pupil results and faculty performance.
- Deep understanding of curriculum development, assessment standards, and modern pedagogical approaches.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop teaching teams, including performance assessments and career progression.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to cultivate effective relationships across the school community.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and budget/resource management capabilities.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting student wellbeing.
- Ongoing commitment to professional learning and reflective leadership practices aimed at school advancement.
