About the Role
This leadership position involves steering the organization’s performance management and training activities. The goal is to design, deploy, and continuously improve performance frameworks and learning strategies that align with business objectives, enhance workforce capabilities, and foster operational excellence within the contracting and construction sector.
Qualifications
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferable.
- Professional certifications related to HR, learning and development, or performance management are considered an asset.
Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in performance management and training with a preference for backgrounds in construction, contracting, or similar industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee substantial workforce development programs and performance management systems in environments that are project-driven.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure training and performance initiatives are tightly integrated with corporate strategy and objectives.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements with local labor laws and industry standards.
- Foster a culture emphasizing continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Manage the budget for training and development activities prudently.
- Leverage data analytics to drive informed decision-making and provide reports on the success of initiatives.
- Design and roll out performance management systems including KPIs, scorecards, and appraisal mechanisms customized for project-based and construction settings.
- Promote alignment of organizational goals through departmental and individual KPIs.
- Oversee the complete annual performance review process: goal setting, mid-year check-ins, and final evaluations.
- Analyze performance trends, offering actionable insights to executive leadership.
- Train management on best practices in performance evaluation and feedback delivery.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training and learning strategy suited to workforce requirements.
- Conduct thorough training needs assessments across projects, engineering, and administrative units.
- Create programs targeting technical skills, behavioral competencies, leadership development, and safety specific to construction operations.
- Maintain partnerships with external training organizations and certification authorities.
- Supervise onboarding and induction processes for new staff and project team members.
- Identify skill deficiencies and design competency models for critical roles.
- Support initiatives for succession planning and leadership growth within the company.
- Advocate for ongoing professional development, emphasizing engineering and project management roles.
- Administer Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Performance Management Systems (PMS).
- Monitor training outcomes, calculate return on investment, and track improvements in performance metrics.
- Generate detailed reports and dashboards for senior leadership review.
