Overview
We are seeking a Head of Content to lead and manage content across a portfolio of five websites. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution including writing, editing, and publishing. The successful candidate will own the tone and voice of our brands from category pages and product descriptions to blogs and FAQs, working closely within a small marketing team and reporting to the CEO. Daily use of large language models (LLMs) for crafting content is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement content strategies for all five websites, covering category, product, landing pages, and blog materials.
- Audit existing content to remove duplication and generic filler, ensuring a unique and consistent brand voice across channels.
- Collaborate with SEO specialists to optimize content for traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven answer platforms.
- Verify that all published content accurately reflects current product and pricing details prior to publication.
- Monitor and report on content performance metrics including organic traffic, click-through rates, and rankings; refine strategy accordingly.
- Maintain and manage a comprehensive content calendar for blogs and seasonal marketing campaigns.
- Work closely with the CEO and marketing team to influence brand direction and content processes.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum four years' experience in content creation, editorial, or copywriting roles, with 1-2 years focused on content strategy leadership.
- Demonstrable portfolio showcasing versatility in writing styles ranging from engaging brand-driven copy to clear and structured FAQ and product content.
- Solid understanding of SEO best practices including on-page optimization, keyword research, and internal linking; keen interest in AI's impact on content strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a rigorous approach to fact-checking product information and pricing.
- Ability to juggle content creation across multiple brands without compromising consistency.
- Experience working with ecommerce content management systems is advantageous.
- Proficiency and daily utilization of LLM tools in content development mandatory.
- Strong editorial skills with openness to providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Committed to working full-time onsite in Shoreditch or Saffron Walden, thriving in a collaborative, dynamic team environment.

Founded in 2006, the company has grown through acquisitions including Activity Superstore and others over the past seven years. The company operates from offices in Saffron Walden (30 staff) and Shoreditch (digital marketing team). This role is based onsite at the Shoreditch or Saffron Walden office.
