About the company
Tata Electronics Private Limited is a new venture within the Tata Group focused on manufacturing precision components. The company is developing India’s first AI-powered, advanced semiconductor foundry that will make chips used in power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers, and high-performance computing logic. Role overview
The Head of Indirect Sourcing will own the full indirect procurement agenda for Tata Electronics across EMS and semiconductor manufacturing sites, as well as corporate offices worldwide. This senior leadership position will shape a scalable sourcing function across technology, infrastructure, and non-technology spend, while driving cost efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence across locations.
The role also requires substantial experience in IT and technology sourcing, infrastructure sourcing, standard indirect categories, and the setup of social infrastructure for greenfield manufacturing environments.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the enterprise indirect sourcing strategy in line with business ramp-up plans, project schedules, and cost targets.
- Consolidate indirect spend across businesses and projects to improve leverage across sites and functions.
- Set up governance structures, policies, and operating cadences for EMS and semiconductor operations.
- Strengthen standardization, compliance, and risk control across all indirect procurement categories.
- Manage sourcing for IT hardware such as servers, storage, networking equipment, end-user devices, and AV systems.
- Lead procurement for enterprise software, SaaS platforms, digital solutions, and IT professional services.
- Work with IT leadership on sourcing strategy, supplier rationalization, commercial negotiations, and lifecycle planning.
- Drive sourcing for non-plant infrastructure, including hostels, townships, vendor parks, logistics parks, and common utilities such as power, water, and gas.
- Support fast expansion of greenfield and brownfield sites while balancing speed, scalability, and cost discipline.
- Oversee procurement of professional services, consulting, HR, legal, travel, hotels, facilities, real estate, and other indirect goods and services.
- Create category strategies, preferred supplier arrangements, and long-term commercial frameworks.
- Partner closely with operations, manufacturing, IT, finance, HR, administration, and project teams.
- Use sourcing systems and tools to improve transparency, gather multi-stakeholder input, and track performance.
- Enable decisions through spend analytics, data visibility, and supplier performance measurement.
Qualifications and experience
- 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in indirect sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
- Strong, proven expertise in IT sourcing, infrastructure sourcing, and standard indirect categories is required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Candidate should be comfortable with extensive travel across multiple sites as business needs require.
