Role Summary
This position is for a qualified Genetic Counselor who can provide telehealth consultations from a remote setup. The work centers on helping people understand genetic test results, inherited conditions, reproductive or health-related genetic risks, and hereditary cancer risks. Core Responsibilities
- Hold genetic counseling appointments remotely through video or phone calls.
- Analyze and explain genetic test findings and hereditary risk reports.
- Break down inheritance patterns, genetic implications, and cancer susceptibility risks in a way that is easy to understand.
- Offer risk-focused guidance backed by evidence, including suggestions for screening or further referral where appropriate.
- Handle sensitive conversations with care, especially when discussing hereditary cancer-related risk.
- Keep thorough and accurate records of client discussions and consultation details.
- Work with physicians or other healthcare professionals when follow-up support or referrals are needed.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or an equivalent academic qualification.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in clinical genetic counseling.
- Demonstrated background in assessing hereditary cancer risk.
- Valid SCFHS Professional Classification and Registration Certificate, or the ability to obtain one if required.
- Genetic counseling certification or licensure aligned with local regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex genetic and oncogenetic topics in a patient, empathetic manner.
- Comfort with a remote telehealth work environment.
- Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
