Job description
Position Overview
Arriva Group is seeking a dependable and diligent Garage and Bus Cleaner to become part of our team. This position focuses on ensuring that our bus fleet and depot are maintained in pristine condition, promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and a welcoming atmosphere for colleagues and travelers alike.
Working Hours and Compensation
- Work schedule spans 39 hours weekly, Monday through Friday
- Shifts run from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Hourly wage is £13.38
Key Duties
- Thoroughly clean both interiors and exteriors of buses, including seats, floors, windows, driver cabins, and handrails
- Empty rubbish bins and dispose of waste following company protocols
- Sanitize high-touch areas inside buses meticulously
- Conduct deep cleaning tasks periodically, such as scrubbing, polishing, and disinfecting vehicles
- Keep depot spaces—including workshops, offices, staff rooms, welfare facilities, and surrounding outdoor areas—neat and orderly
- Utilize cleaning equipment and supplies safely and proficiently
- Detect and report any bus damage, defects, or maintenance needs identified during cleaning
- Adhere to all organizational policies, cleanliness standards, and health and safety regulations
- Track cleaning material inventories and notify management about low stock to maintain adequate supplies
Candidates Should Possess
- Prior cleaning experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, transport, or facility contexts
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
- Solid understanding of safe cleaning procedures and health and safety compliance
- Good physical fitness suitable for manual handling tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and demonstrating a committed work ethic
- Possession of a valid UK driving license is a plus but not mandatory
