Role Summary
This position is for a Front End Designer working remotely across Canada, with occasional in-person meetings in Edmonton, Alberta. The contract is initially for one year, with a possibility of extension up to two years. The work schedule encompasses 7.25 hours per day and 36.25 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop evidence-based digital service designs compliant with government standards.
- Create UX deliverables including wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, and detailed interface documentation.
- Maintain design documentation such as component libraries, style guides, and design patterns.
- Engage in user research, conduct usability testing, and analyze results for design improvements.
- Advise product teams and senior stakeholders on design strategies and decisions.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, demos, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Design solutions adhering to accessibility standards including WCAG guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- At least two years of professional experience as a Front End Designer focusing on web or digital service design enhancements.
- Minimum of two years creating UX assets like user flows, scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, and storyboards.
- Experienced in Agile product team settings for two or more years.

- A personal portfolio containing work samples with brief explanations must be submitted along with the resume; links to online portfolios are insufficient.

Desirable Skills and Experience
- Expertise in building or maintaining component libraries and design systems.
- Capability to develop various design options for features or business issues.
- Experience designing across multiple platforms including web and mobile devices.
- Knowledge and application of accessibility standards like WCAG.
- Familiarity with design thinking and contemporary UX methodologies.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Axure, Adobe XD, Sketch, or comparable applications.
- Background in crafting digital services for public sector or governmental organizations.
- Experience working within a central digital office or digital delivery team environment.
