Overview

Delta Air Lines is hiring Flight Attendants to deliver a safe, welcoming, and high-quality onboard experience. The role centers on passenger care, operational readiness, and calm, professional support in a fast-moving airline environment.

Selected candidates are expected to begin initial Flight Attendant training in early 2027, so applicants should only apply if they can fully commit to that timeline. Candidates may submit only one Flight Attendant application within any 6-month period.

Delta serves more than 300 destinations across six continents and is widely recognized as one of the most awarded airlines in the United States, including acknowledgements from Fortune and Forbes.

What You Will Do

In this position, you will help maintain both safety and comfort for customers while delivering attentive service throughout the journey. You will be expected to communicate clearly, handle in-flight needs with professionalism, and reflect Delta’s values in every interaction.

  • Support customer safety and comfort throughout the flight
  • Provide excellent service in a busy, changing environment
  • Use communication and problem-solving skills to address onboard needs
  • Represent Delta’s standards in all passenger interactions

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a 24/7 operation, so the role requires flexibility for early mornings, late nights, overnight trips, weekends, holidays, and other extended hours based on operational demand. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to adapt to last-minute schedule changes are essential.

Flight Attendants must be prepared to work across time zones, travel as needed to their assigned base, and manage the physical and environmental demands of flying, including the effects of altitude.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follow safety-focused practices throughout all onboard procedures
  • Deliver customer service that is courteous, timely, and solution-oriented
  • Handle sudden changes and stressful situations with professionalism
  • Assist passengers, including those with special or unusual needs
  • Report for duty on time and remain dependable across varying schedules
  • Adjust quickly to operational changes and short-notice assignments
  • Work independently when needed and coordinate effectively with fellow crew members
  • Demonstrate and explain safety and emergency equipment use
  • Respond to emergencies, including ditching situations, and provide basic first aid or CPR when necessary
  • Give clear verbal or non-verbal emergency instructions to customers
  • Make decisions in line with Delta policies, procedures, and values
  • Prepare, serve, and sell beverages, including alcohol, as well as meals that may contain common allergens or meats such as beef, pork, seafood, and peanuts
  • Help customers lift and stow luggage in overhead bins
  • Prioritize passenger safety and comfort during delays or turbulence
  • Make routine public announcements and safety calls according to company and federal standards
  • Perform duties effectively in changing cabin and operational conditions

Language Options

Delta is recruiting both English-speaking Flight Attendants and bilingual Flight Attendants, also referred to as Language of Destination (LOD) crew members. To qualify for an LOD role, you must be fluent in English and in the language chosen on your application, and you must pass a language assessment during the hiring process.

Eligible LOD languages include Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Korean, and Swedish. Candidates hired into the LOD program must commit to that program for two years.

Training and Base Assignment

New hires must complete seven consecutive weeks of training at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Training includes a wage and some meals, and shared lodging is provided for participants who do not live within 25 miles of the training facility.

After training, Flight Attendants will report to their assigned base. Base assignments depend on operational need and may vary for bilingual/LOD positions.
