About the Role
Cerberus Capital Management, founded in 1992, is a global alternative investment firm with about $70 billion in assets across credit, private equity, and real estate strategies. The firm uses its integrated investment platform and operating capabilities to pursue strong risk-adjusted returns and long-term value for investors.
Cerberus Asset-Backed Opportunities is hiring an Analyst for a high-visibility junior position that sits at the crossroads of finance, operations, and emerging technology. The role is designed for an early-career professional who can support the financial and operational core of the platform while also helping drive the adoption of artificial intelligence across the team’s workflows.
The selected candidate will help maintain the accuracy of books, records, projections, and reporting, while also rethinking how this work is performed through AI copilots, agents, and automation tools. The position offers broad exposure to management company operations, GP economics, fund data, forecasting, expense control, market research, and special strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Act as a practical owner and advocate for AI adoption across CABO’s operating workflows, including testing tools, building repeatable automations, and turning manual tasks into scalable systems.
- Support the maintenance of management company books and records with careful attention to detail, while improving reconciliations, anomaly detection, and reporting through AI-assisted methods.
- Maintain GP books and records as well as deferred compensation schedules, ensuring allocations and balances remain accurate and increasingly automated.
- Help update and extend five-year projections and financial models, including assumption refreshes, scenario analysis, and AI-supported insight generation.
- Assist with expense oversight workstreams, including T&E reporting, fund expenses, review processes, and exception handling, with an emphasis on control and efficiency.
- Organize recurring and ad hoc workstreams by creating trackers, coordinating deliverables, and improving documentation, status updates, and stakeholder communication.
- Perform market research and analytical support for business priorities, using AI research and synthesis tools to produce concise, decision-ready outputs.
- Maintain fund attribute data quality, improve consistency across systems, and automate data cleanup and reporting where possible.
- Contribute to strategic and special projects as needed, approaching assignments with a mindset focused on speed, quality, and better use of AI.
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, financial services, consulting, or another analytical field; strong internship experience may also be considered.
- Completed undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, computer science, engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- Clear enthusiasm for AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and agentic platforms, along with practical experience using them to solve real problems.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capability, with preferred exposure to Python, scripting, or low-code/no-code automation tools.
- Excellent organization and project management skills, with the ability to manage several priorities at once while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to interact with senior stakeholders.
- Good judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Self-starter attitude, curiosity, initiative, and a builder’s mindset focused on improving manual processes.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $130,000 per year. Final pay will depend on the candidate’s experience and other qualifications, as determined by the company. The role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is often a meaningful part of the total compensation package, along with a robust benefits package.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, onsite position in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The role is centered on combining finance operations with modern technology, especially AI-enabled process improvement.
