Job Overview
We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our dynamic and fast-moving Finance team. The role involves supporting general ledger processes and the preparation of accurate management accounts. The successful candidate will be tasked with reviewing and analysing financial transactions across various areas such as general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, treasury activities, banking, and VAT compliance, ensuring the financial data's accuracy and integrity throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the timely compilation of monthly management accounts with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and assess accruals and prepayments in alignment with accounting standards.
- Conduct overhead cost analyses to identify cost drivers and variances.
- Manage and update the Fixed Asset Register, including recording monthly depreciation entries.
- Analyze actual costs against accruals, investigating any discrepancies.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations ensuring all items are supported and aged correctly.
- Collaborate closely with Team Leads and Senior Finance Managers on ad hoc tasks and continuous improvement of financial processes.
- Support month-end close processes to guarantee accurate and prompt financial reporting across ledger accounts.
- Produce and analyze profit and loss accounts for business units, providing insight into significant variances.
- Review overhead performance, including rolling forecasts, and compare budgeted versus actual figures.
- Assist with year-end audits and statutory accounts, ensuring timely delivery of paperwork and addressing audit queries.
- Handle intercompany accounting duties including ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and liaising with group entities.
- Contribute to finance-related projects and initiatives focused on process enhancements.
- Support upkeep and improvements in financial reporting systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Accounting Technician qualification or partial completion of professional accounting certifications (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) considered.
- Familiarity with ERP software, preferably SAP.
- Experience in environments with multiple currencies, including FX revaluations, intercompany accounting, and consolidated financial reporting is beneficial.
- Proven capability to manage considerable workloads while meeting stringent deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving working environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for detailed financial data analysis and interpretation.
