About Sudafest and Role Overview
Sudafest seeks an enthusiastic Festival Coordinator to aid in the preparation and execution of its forthcoming festival in Bristol. This part-time position offers flexible remote work with a critical on-site presence needed for the event day. It is tailored for individuals passionate about arts, culture, community involvement, and with comprehensive knowledge of Sudanese heritage.
Position Details
- Location: Remote, with mandatory attendance in Bristol on June 21, 2025
- Compensation: 50 inclusive
- Time Commitment: Approximately 50 hours encompassing:
- 8 to 10 one-hour planning meetings scheduled between April and June
- Weekly engagement of around 3 hours during the 10 weeks preceding the festival
- Complete 10-hour day commitment on the event day
Responsibilities
- Coordinate artists and suppliers, including managing contracts and commissions and maintaining communications
- Participate actively in festival planning, contributing ideas and tracking critical tasks
- Engage with volunteers, community groups, and partners to ensure smooth operations
- Manage logistics such as security, risk assessments, scheduling, and coordination during the event
- Assist with marketing initiatives and outreach to maximize festival attendance
- Conduct post-festival activities including gathering feedback and archiving important materials
Candidate Requirements
- Fluency in Arabic and English, both orally and in writing
- Deep understanding of Sudanese culture, arts, and customs
- Proven experience in event coordination, community engagement, or arts administration
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
- Flexible work style with commitment to weekly meetings and on-site presence on festival day
- Experience overseeing volunteers, artists, and supplier relationships
- Basic knowledge of health and safety, risk assessments, and event logistics
- Marketing or audience outreach experience is advantageous
