Location and Work Details
This role is based at Crosscare Dun Laoghaire Youth Service. The position is full-time, requiring 37.5 hours per week, and it is offered on a permanent contract basis.
Salary
The salary range for this position is between €38,769 and €57,011, dependent on experience and qualifications.
Role Summary and Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a team with youth justice workers to identify and assist families of young offenders or those at risk, aiming to lower offending behaviors.
- Utilize information from the young person's YLS/CMI 2.0 assessments alongside youth justice workers to understand family needs and strengths.
- Evaluate and address the requirements of families, especially parents and caregivers linked to the Youth Diversion Programme (YDP) or referred to it.
- Establish and sustain strong, positive relationships with the target families.
- Apply evidence-informed methods, including group sessions, one-on-one support, skills-based programs, and recreational activities tailored for parents and caregivers.
- Maintain partnerships with local stakeholders, especially An Garda Síochána and other agencies involved with families and youth in the region.
- Advocate on behalf of parents, caregivers, and families by participating in relevant meetings and preparing reports as necessary.
- Operate according to YDP operational guidelines and complete administrative duties accurately and promptly, including planning and reporting.
- Participate in YDP advisory and referral assessment committee meetings and prepare corresponding documentation.
- Network and collaborate with other agencies and community groups to enrich opportunities for project participants.
- Attend and complete all mandatory training provided by Crosscare and Irish Youth Justice to support project work.
Essential Requirements
- Possession of a third-level qualification in youth work.
- At least two years’ experience working with youth at risk.
- Experience handling Child Safeguarding issues.
- Full driving license is desirable.
