Role overview
Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide dedicated support to the Programme Director and the wider directorate. This is a high-profile position that partners closely with senior leaders to keep daily operations running smoothly while helping them stay focused on strategic goals and wider business impact.
About the organisation
The business is driven by a mission to deliver clean, affordable energy for everyone. Its Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme is designed as a UK-led answer to a worldwide energy challenge, with the ambition of becoming a global leader in advanced nuclear technology and a major UK export success.
Location
This role is hybrid and can be based from the Derby, Manchester or Warrington office.
What you will do
- Coordinate busy calendars, meetings and travel plans involving several stakeholders.
- Produce polished documents, slide decks and written correspondence for senior leadership.
- Handle expenses, purchase orders and other administrative workflows with accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with events and work alongside Executive Assistants across the business to keep activity aligned.
What you will bring
You will need sound judgement, flexibility and a team-focused attitude, plus the confidence to work with senior stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
- A strong administrative background, such as GCSEs in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification, along with experience supporting senior leaders.
- Well-developed organisational ability and a proven track record of balancing competing demands.
- Discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential information.
- Comfort using business systems and digital tools while collaborating across teams to deliver results.
Pay and benefits
The expected salary sits in the £30,000 to £39,400 range, depending on the skills, values and knowledge you bring. The role also includes a performance-related bonus of up to 7%, a £2,200 benefits allowance, pension contributions of 12% from the employer and 6% from the employee, 28 days of holiday plus public holidays, and the option to buy or sell up to 4 additional days. Other benefits include BUPA single-cover private medical insurance, life assurance at 6 times pensionable pay, and a one-off £250 payment for home office purchases for new starters.
Why join
You will be part of a forward-looking organisation that values openness, fairness and innovation. The environment is flexible, inclusive and supportive, with opportunities to grow as the business expands and a culture that encourages diversity, innovation and continuous learning.
Equal opportunities
The company welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and is committed to inclusive, fair and supportive hiring practices. As a Disability Confident employer, it aims to help every candidate have a genuine opportunity to succeed.
Who should apply
Applications are encouraged from people who meet most of the requirements, including those considering a career change or bringing transferable skills from another sector.
Application screening
Because of nuclear industry safety requirements, successful applicants will need to complete additional screening, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and a basic financial probity check.
Salary note
The stated pay range is £30,000 to £39,375.
