Role overview

Western Power is hiring a permanent, full-time Estimator to join its Finance team in Perth CBD. In this position, you will prepare smart, value-focused cost estimates that help shape essential capital works and standardised programs.

What you will do

• Contribute to accurate early-stage scoping and costing for program, project, and customer-funded work.
• Use technical judgement to build planning-phase estimates that give confidence in scope, cost, and value.
• Produce high-quality estimates for minor capital works and volumetric programs, including detailed bottom-up estimates for more complex non-standard work.
• Help create, update, and improve unit rates, compatible units, standard jobs, and estimating tools.
• Support ongoing improvement of estimating methods, processes, and systems so the function continues to deliver strong outcomes.
• Offer practical guidance on design, construction, and commissioning factors that affect project scope definition.
• Keep the rates catalogue current by updating and communicating rate changes clearly.
• Take responsibility for delivering work that is accurate, efficient, and aligned with business priorities and workforce best practice.

What you need

• Background in estimating or a similar field, with the ability to turn information into dependable cost outcomes.
• Sound knowledge of estimating methods, procedures, and tools, plus a willingness to keep developing your capability.
• Ability to work both autonomously and with others while meeting deadlines in a busy environment.
• Understanding of risk assessment and risk management, with the judgement to balance cost, scope, and uncertainty.
• Broad awareness of project and contract management practices and their role in successful delivery.
• A trade or technical qualification, or comparable hands-on experience.
