Role summary
The Economic Expert will deliver economic research, analytical support, and policy guidance to inform strategic choices. This position focuses on studying market and macroeconomic movements, evaluating the effect of policies and regulations, and turning quantitative and qualitative findings into clear recommendations for senior leaders and stakeholders. The work supports data-led planning that advances growth, sustainability, and broader organizational goals.
Language requirement: Fluency in both English and Arabic is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out economic studies, market assessments, and forecasting to inform strategy and policy work.
- Measure the economic consequences of policies, rules, laws, projects, and investment plans.
- Track regional and international economic developments to spot risks and potential opportunities.
- Build economic models, forecasts, scenario-based analyses, and impact evaluations.
- Complete cost-benefit reviews and feasibility assessments for major initiatives.
- Examine core macro indicators including GDP, inflation, jobs, trade, and investment.
- Gather, clean, and interpret economic and statistical information from varied sources.
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, presentations, and concise executive summaries.
- Translate analysis into actionable economic insights for leadership decisions.
- Contribute to policy design, rollout, and review activities.
- Work with internal teams on planning and budgeting tasks.
- Perform benchmarking and side-by-side policy comparisons.
- Evaluate industry patterns and the investment climate.
- Create dashboards and monitoring tools to track economic performance.
- Review how regulations and fiscal measures may affect the economy.
- Develop long-range forecasts and scenario simulations.
- Present conclusions to senior leaders and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with government and regulatory stakeholders when needed.
- Maintain accuracy of data and soundness of methods used.
- Keep up to date with modern economic techniques and best practices.
- Support cross-functional projects with economic expertise.
- Guide junior colleagues and help share knowledge across the team.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Between 5 and 8 years of experience in economic analysis or policy-oriented roles.
- Background in government, consulting, or international organizations is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
- Hands-on proficiency with Excel, Stata, R, SPSS, Python, or comparable analytical tools.
- Strong ability to analyze information and think critically.
- Well-developed report writing and communication skills.
- Capability to convert complex data into clear, practical insights.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Good planning and coordination abilities.
- English and Arabic fluency is mandatory.
