Role Overview

We are seeking a Divisional Director to manage a significant operational portfolio with an approximate turnover of 50 million across England and Wales. This prominent leadership role focuses on driving profitable growth, operational excellence, and sustainable development during a strategic expansion phase. The position demands providing strategic insights and operational guidance to inform long-term business planning and investment choices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead growth initiatives that are sustainable and scalable while preserving company culture and core values.
• Formulate and implement business strategies supporting expansion in current and new markets prioritising profitability and customer value.
• Manage and inspire a workforce of 300 300-400 employees, promoting engagement and high performance.
• Create commercially viable logistics solutions enhancing client relationships and financial results.
• Maintain full profit and loss accountability, achieving targets via cost control, revenue enhancement, and disciplined operations.
• Identify and acquire new business opportunities through strategic client and partner engagement.
• Influence board-level decisions and contribute to overall strategic planning.
• Collaborate with Group Support Functions to drive operational excellence and transformation.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements while maintaining high quality and risk management standards.
• Use data-driven analysis to boost performance and operational efficiency.
• Lead initiatives for operational development and innovation aligned with market trends and customer needs.
• Work closely with Finance teams to manage budgeting and forecasting, instilling financial discipline.
• Lead commercial negotiations including customer rate reviews.
• Consistently achieve financial, operational, compliance, and service key performance indicators.
• Develop talent management and succession plans to enhance workforce capabilities and leadership development, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Oversee employee and industrial relations adhering to policies and agreements.
• Promote and maintain a robust health and safety culture throughout all operations.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive senior leadership experience in transport, tankers, or third-party logistics managing complex multi-site operations.
• Prior director-level or equivalent experience with a proven track record in strategic planning, governance, and decisive leadership.
• Expertise in driving profitability, operational excellence, and scaled commercial growth with strong contract, financial, and negotiation skills.
• Experienced in leading large, distributed teams and cultivating high-performance workplace cultures.
• Successful history of business development and winning sizeable client contracts.
• Strong background in leading transformation, change management, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills across various organizational levels.
• Solid knowledge of UK logistics compliance, safety, and regulatory frameworks.
• Highly proficient with technology and adept in analytical, data-informed decision making.
