Role Overview
The Dispensary Technician position is a full-time, on-site role at Unichem Cashel Pharmacy. The role supports pharmacists by preparing and dispensing prescriptions, ensuring correct labeling, and maintaining documentation accuracy. Responsibilities also include assisting customers with prescription-related questions, managing dispensary stock, processing sales transactions, and keeping the workspace organized, clean, and compliant with regulations. The technician collaborates within a team, follows pharmacy protocols and laws, and delivers courteous, effective service. Additional duties may involve liaising with prescribers, handling telephone inquiries, and supporting general pharmacy operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to professionally assist a diverse customer base.
- Good knowledge of medications, pharmacy products, or willingness to learn basic health-related information.
- Experience or capability in cash handling and operating point-of-sale systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Competence in inventory management such as stock rotation, expiry date monitoring, and shelf restocking.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to dispensing procedures and regulatory standards.
- Ability to effectively manage time, work collaboratively in a busy environment, and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Previous experience in pharmacy or healthcare retail is advantageous; formal technician training or certification is preferred.
- Basic proficiency with computers and familiarity with pharmacy or retail software is desirable.
