Role Summary

The Director of People Operations will lead and expand Coda's global people operations function, owning operational excellence across the entire employee lifecycle—covering payroll, compliance, mobility, systems, onboarding, and offboarding processes. The role demands a relentless focus on delivering quick, dependable, and seamless experiences in all interactions with the people team. Reporting to the SVP of People, you will manage a global team supporting over 600 employees across 20+ countries and collaborate closely with internal partners. This senior leadership position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to build scalable processes for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a global people operations team responsible for HRIS administration and optimization (e.g., Rippling), payroll operations, vendor management, employment compliance, employee mobility including visas and immigration, and day-to-day employee support via tools such as Jira.
  • Manage operations that enhance the employee experience throughout the lifecycle by defining and achieving SLAs for people operations requests, promoting high customer satisfaction, and streamlining onboarding to offboarding journeys.
  • Develop scalable processes, policies, and operating models aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational risks, process improvements, tradeoffs, and best practices in people operations.
  • Ensure robust controls, documentation, and audit readiness across payroll, compliance, and employee data management.
  • Collaborate closely with leaders in other HR areas including employee relations, total rewards, and talent development as necessary.
  • Play a critical role in mergers and acquisitions integration activities such as due diligence, employee data migration, payroll and compliance alignment, and change management.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in people operations, with proven leadership in managing and developing distributed, international teams.
  • Successful background in scaling people operations for globally distributed, mid-sized companies (500-1,000 employees), with preferred experience in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Expertise navigating diverse employment laws, cultural nuances, and HR best practices across APAC and EMEA regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish SLA- and customer satisfaction-driven service models, with a commitment to operational excellence and enhancing employee experience.
  • Strong influence and collaboration skills to drive cross-functional initiatives across multiple cultures and time zones.
  • Strategic thinker who is also prepared to engage in tactical, hands-on work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Comfortable with technology, including experience with AI tools, Google Workspace, Slack, and various HRIS platforms; familiarity with Rippling is a plus.
